- Snaptrap's seeming benevolence is possibly a reference to Superman's archenemy, Lex Luthor, who, in John Byrne's reboot of Superman, The Man of Steel, became a corrupt billionaire whose charitable acts were cover-ups for his involvement with Metropolis' criminal underworld, except Luthor never used free muffins to fool the citizens of Metropolis.
