Trivia
- Kaz Aizawa won an Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation Emmy Award for the background color painting in this episode.
- When the Chameleon is inputting coordinates to fire a missile at TUFF HQ, the coordinates "LAT: 34.175447, LONG: -118.314698" briefly flash upon the computer screen. In real life these are the coordinates of the Nickelodeon Productions Station building in Burbank, California.
- It is this episode in which the The Chief's real name is first revealed to be Herbert Dumbrowski and that he formerly used to live at Apartment 7, 428 Maple Drive, Petropolis.
- The Chief's birth certificate shown during the newsreel is signed by both Abraham Lincoln and Butch Hartman.
- The otter soldier is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui, who also voices Mr. Denzel Crocker in The Fairly OddParents.
- In the end, Dudley grows into a giant, gains two extra heads, and starts to breathe fire. This is probably a reference to Cerberus, the three headed hellhound from Greek mythology, or King Ghidorah from Godzilla.
- A movie theater marquee features a film titled "The Lizard of Oz", an obvious parody of The Wizard of Oz.
- The fourth wall is broken due to the Chief blasting the narrator during the video at the beginning of the episode.
- When the Chameleon tries to fool the army officers he does so by making random references to the Battle of the Alamo, the U.S. Marine Corps motto, "semper fi" and the Bay of Pigs invasion.
- The title of the episode could be a reference to Richard Gere's 1990 movie of the same name.
- The gangsters in the newsreel are armed with weaponry resembling M1928 Thompson sub-machine guns and an M1911 pistol respectively thus making this the only episode to feature real world, non-science fiction firearms.
- The scene where Kitty stops the missile - just before it hits T.U.F.F. HQ - simply by pulling a lever marked "air brake", is similar to how Bugs Bunny in the 1952 Looney Tunes cartoon, Hare Lift, stops a big airplane just before it hits the ground.
Running Gags
- Keswick getting his rays mixed up.
- Dudley yelling about what's happening.
- The Chief thinking that he's huge.
Goofs
- In the scene where Keswick and Kitty are at the movies, Keswick is seen putting down his candy box, but in the next shot it was gone.
- Keswick said that the Molecular Transformation Suit was wired into The Chameleon's brain, however in Puppy Love, the Chameleon could put on the suit without any difficulty.
